MDI Jewels Inventory
For my rapid prototyping class, I challenged myself to make as many wire-wrapped rings as I could in the four hours I was allotted. I was also participating in the Berry College Spring Market the next day with my small business, MDI Jewels, and it seemed to be a perfect opportunity to crank out some last minute inventory.
Cutting the wire and threading the bead.
MDI Jewels originally started off as a hobby in 2020, around the same time the rest of the world was picking up hobbies while in quarantine. When my friends began inquiring me about buying the rings I was making, however, was when I realized the potential for a business.

For me, wire-wrapped crystal rings usually take at least about ten to fifteen minutes to produce by hand. The process involves measuring the wire, placing the crystal or bead and wrapping it before adjusting the size of the ring.
Sizing the ring.
Wrapping the ring.
Final product.
Total rings made.
By the end, I made about 15 rings total, which I was pretty content with! I made each either a different size, wire color or bead type so my customers would have a ton of options for the market!
